Traveling during COVID (more Airline updates)

Updates on air routes & carriers, with some more exact dates to a post earlier this week.

American: Will relaunch flights from Dallas to Amsterdam and Frankfurt on June 4, and in the second phase of bringing back the carrier’s international presence, it will begin offering service to Dublin, Tokyo, Seoul, Lima and Sao Paulo on July 7. (Sorry but didn't have dates earlier this week!)

Southwest: Announced it would relaunch service to Cancun from Houston, Denver, and Baltimore/Washington on June 7.

 

In addition, it will resume service to Los Cabos (from Houston and Denver), Havana (from Tampa), Montego Bay (from Baltimore/Washington and Orlando) and Nassau (from Baltimore/Washington) on June 7. Southwest also revealed it would relaunch flights from Phoenix to San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos, Mexico, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on October 8. The carrier has suspended all other flights to international destinations through October 30.

Virgin Atlantic announces Summer 2021 destinations: Heathrow will be the center of Virgin Atlantic’s operations with a total of 24 long-haul destinations, both east and west of London. Virgin states that flights will operate to the following destinations from Heathrow. However, the Cape Town route will cease operation in April.

Israel plans to open Ben Gurion Airport. The country’s main international gateway was closed in March. Authorities announced today that they are looking to open again June 1st. Meetings between senior health officials and Israel’s airport authorities was held on Tuesday. They are determining which destinations to start serving.

Travelers will be required to undergo testing before boarding & on arrival. When entering the terminal, you will have to show both tickets and passport before staff check temperature. Failing the temperature check you will not be able to enter the terminal. Anyone who is not flying won’t be able to go into the terminal. Travelers will have to arrive four hours before flight departure. Check in counters only to drop luggage. It will be mandatory for every traveler to wear a protective mask.
