We are Open for Summer! 'GREECE'

· Travel News

Good morning readers & clients,

This is now official policy of Greece, before I was reporting what I was hearing and gossip of Greece's opening plans. Now it's confirmed. Greece will be open VERY soon for international arrivals and tourism.

Greece’s 2020 tourism season will begin on June 15, & will begin welcoming back international flights .

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the plan to support the economy, employment and tourism.

“The transition from today’s uncertainty to tomorrow’s security is based on three pillars: employment support, tax cuts and boosting entrepreneurship,”

Referring specifically to tourism, the PM said Greece’s 2020 season will begin on June 15, coinciding with the date the country’s seasonal hotels will open their doors. Greece’s year-round hotels will open June 1.

Greece will be welcoming international flights initially only at Athens International Airport until July. Then on July 1st, all Greek airports will be open to international arrivals. (This means the Greek islands such as Santorini, Mykonos, Crete can start having direct arrivals from other European airports on July 1st).

As previously reported, Greece’s visitors will undergo COVID-19 tests when required and must abide by the country’s general health protocols, which however will not cast a shadow over Greece's bright sun or natural beauty & history.

It was announced that Greece’s incoming tourists will not need to have a coronavirus test prior to travel nor will they be quarantined after arrival.

I can further report the Acropolis and other museums and historic sights in Greece are now open. Speaking with a contact in Athens just yesterday I can confirm all shops are now open in Athens and dining establishments will be opening within days country wide.

As for flights Aegean airlines is reinstating it's intra European flights to be able to get travelers to the country, but no word on it's trans-Atlantic routes yet. With the EU air borders closed to US arrivals currently, once the EU air borders are open (expected mid June), this will allow US travelers to fly trans-Atlantic to a Euro hub, and then be able to fly to your destination in Greece.

So if your looking to getaway this summer and experience incredible islands, beaches and ancient history, Then Greece looks be one of your top choices this summer in Europe.
